FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES' CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER, RICHARD PALMER, NAMED 2019'S MOST INFLUENTIAL UK EXECUTIVE IN AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

The British-born chief financial officer for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Richard Palmer, has been named as 2019's most influential UK executive in the global automotive business.

The accolade, announced at a ceremony last night (9 July) by leading weekly motoring magazine Auto Express, recognises the huge contribution Palmer has made to the FCA group.

Billed by Auto Express as a man who has played a pivotal role in the turnaround of some of the greatest car brands in the world, who has helped steer the company into better health than many predicted, Palmer topped a list of senior executives from across the industry - the second time an FCA executive has held first place after the company's CEO, Mike Manley, took the honours in 2016.

Now in its eighth year, the 'Brit List' celebrates the 50 most influential UK players in the automotive sector, encompassing professionals in all areas, from supply chain management and logistics, through to manufacturing, engineering, design and PR.

"It's been an interesting year for FCA. Behind much of that success is Richard Palmer, the group CFO, who sits on the main board with a huge amount of influence across all the group's brands - he's far more than just a numbers man," says Steve Fowler, editor-in-chief, Auto Express. "He puts FCA's turnaround down to a decisive management team making bold decisions quickly. Palmer's part in that can't be overplayed, which is why he's number one in this year's Brit List - our rundown of most influential Brits in the car business."

"I would like to thank Auto Express for the award and I would also like to recognise the outstanding contribution made by all FCA employees around the world," said Richard Palmer.

"The automotive business is like no other, the challenges our sector faces, combined with fierce competition, means we are required to work harder and be more skillful and creative than ever before. This is a remarkable and always evolving industry, and an industry which I am proud to be part of," he added.
